When someone you love is an alcoholic

loving an alcoholic, drug addiction, codependency, alcohol addiction, alcoholics, alcoholism, addiction, how to help a drug addict, how to help an alcoholic, how to deal with an alcoholic, alcoholic relationships, how to help an addict, wife of an alcoholic, dealing with an alcoholic, detachment with love, how to help someone with drug addiction, help for families of addiction, serenityonlinetherapy.com, vancouver, how to deal with an addict, online counselling, online counseling,

Living with an alcoholic can be a living hell. Sometimes an alcoholic can be exciting and romantic yet unpredictable and dangerous. Nobody has a clue when they will be blamed or accused. As the alcoholic becomes more irresponsible, they are unable to lean on their partner for comfort or support.

We worry; feel angry, afraid and alone. We hide our private lives from friends, co-workers and even family to cover up the problems created by alcoholic. Our shame is not warranted; nonetheless, we feel responsible for the actions of the alcoholic. Our self-esteem deteriorates from the alcoholic’s lies, verbal abuse, and blame. Our sense of safety and trust erodes as our isolation and despair grow. Alcohol is a drug. I refer to alcoholism, but many of the feelings that partners experience are the same, regardless of the type ofaddiction.

Addiction is considered a disease

Alcohol is a drug and alcoholism is a disease. It is just like other addiction that worsens with time. Alcoholics drink to ease their emotional pain and emptiness. Alcoholics often try to control their drinking but once dependency takes hold, most find it impossible to stop or drink like non – alcoholics. Alcoholics drink because they have a disease and an addiction too. Addicts deny this reality and blame their alcohol or anything else.

Alcohol use Disorder

The recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders refers excessive drinking as Alcohol Use Disorder. It refers to an alcoholic as a person with an Alcohol Use Disorder. It is a disorder that causes impairment or distress manifested by at least two of the following signs within a year when the person

  1. Drinks alcohol in greater amounts for a longer period of time intentionally
  2. Spends great time in activities to obtain alcohol or to recover from its effects
  3. Has a strong desire to drink alcohol
  4. Drinks when it’s physically hazardous to do so
  5. Stops or reduces important activities due to drinking
  6. Has made failed attempts to reduce or control drinking

The Family’s Disease

Addiction is a family disease and it is said that at least five other people experience the effects of a drinker’s alcoholism referred to as “Secondhand Drinking”. The persons who are close to an alcoholic try to control the situation, the drinking, and the addict. If you live with substance abuse, you’re affected most, and children severely suffer because of their vulnerability and lack of maturity, especially if their mother or both parents are addicts.

It’s painful to helplessly watch someone we love slowly destroy him or her, our hopes and dreams, and our family. We feel frustrated and resentful from repeatedly believing the addict’s broken promises and from trying to control an uncontrollable situation. Denial affects the family as well as the addict. In time, family members become as obsessed with the alcoholic as he or she is with alcohol.

Hope and Recovery

Family members easily become codependent with the alcoholic. Without help, that codependency follows the same downward trajectory of alcoholism. There is hope, however, and there is help for the addict and for family members. The first step is to learn as much as you can about alcoholism and codependency. Many of the things people do to help an addict or alcoholic are counterproductive and actually can make things worse. Listen to the experience, strength, and hope of others in recovery.
You will learn:

  • Not to suffer because of the actions or reactions of other people
  • Not to allow ourselves to be used or abused by others in the interest of another’s recovery
  • Not to do for others what they can do for themselves
  • Not to manipulate situations so others will eat, go to bed, get up, pay bills, not drink, or behave as we see fit
  • Not to cover up for another’s mistakes or misdeeds
  • Not to create a crisis
  • Not to prevent a crisis if it is in the natural course of events

How Alcohol Addiction May Affect Mental Health

Alcohol happens to be the most preferred go-to thing, whether someone wants to de-stress after a long day at work or spending an evening with friends. Sadly, the booze is like a customary for most people. Despite being the leading cause of preventable deaths, alcohol is marketed openly and projected in the media as a positive substance.

Contrary to the popular belief, alcohol does more harm than good when consumed in large quantities over a prolonged period. It is known to cause numerous negative effects, ranging from memory loss and blackouts to a number of mental healthissues, such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. Since alcohol is a depressant, it can hamper the normal functioning of brain, affecting one's thoughts, feelings and actions.

Evidently, alcohol addiction and poor mental health go hand in hand. For people who cannot live without alcohol every day, mental health issues are common occurrences. At the same time, an individual dealing with a mental health condition like depression or anxiety is more likely to develop alcohol addiction in comparison to those who are not afflicted by any mental disorder. Precisely, when an individual deals with both a substance abuse problem and a mental disorder, he or she is known to have a co-occurring condition or dual diagnosis.

Here are some most common co-existing conditions, which can cause serious repercussions:

Alcohol and anxiety

Alcohol often acts as a first resort to fight the symptoms of anxiety in a short run. But when the consumption of alcohol becomes a regular affair, it is likely that the symptoms of anxiety would worsen over time. Drinking heavily interferes with the healthy functioning of neurotransmitters present in the brain, which in turn has a negative impact on a person battling any mental health issue, such as anxiety, thus worsening the existing symptoms.

Alcohol and depression

Alcohol is a depressant and therefore its regular consumption can make a person feel sad, low and extremely tired or uncomfortable. Moreover, consumption of alcohol over a prolonged period can worsen the existing depressive symptoms. However, for some people, the presence of anxiety or depression can prompt them to experiment with alcohol to relieve the symptoms. Clearly, alcohol and depression form a vicious cycle, which can eventually lead to self-harm, psychosis or even suicide.

Alcohol and memory loss

Drinkingalcohol occasionally as well as over a long period of time can cause memory loss. Actually, alcohol slows down the brain processes, which causes significant impairments to the memory. Heavy drinking impairs a person's ability to remember or even recall things. It even puts the person at a risk of having poor health getting involved in anti-social activities.

Four ways to help prevent alcohol affecting your mood

  1. Use exercise and relaxation to tackle stress instead of alcohol.
  2. Learn breathing techniques to try when you feel anxious.
  3. Talk to someone about your worries. Don’t try and mask them with alcohol.
  4. Always be aware of why you’re drinking. Don’t assume it will make a bad feeling go away, it’s more likely to exaggerate it.

Seeking treatment for dual diagnosis

Unlike a single problem of say, an addiction ora mental condition, dual diagnosis needs comprehensive treatment. While an inpatient program may be comparatively more helpful for dual diagnosis, the availability of the latest tools and medications also increases the chances of overcoming the problem. However, it is important to seek medical help in case of addiction to any substance or occurrence of any mental disorder, or both.

Obesity and sexual health – 6 Effects of Belly Fat on Sexual Function

When a person is obese, their sex life often suffers. This is not just a physical issue; it's a psycho social issue involving body image and performance anxiety. Obese people are entitled to have the same quality of life as anyone else. You don't have to hate your body or your weight and ensure some steps to improve it.

If someone is really struggling with obesity issue, obese people need to seek out some help. Sexual Problems arises with the increase in weight. Losing weight is not only the answer for the sexual problems raised due to obesity. If the doctors show open attitude towards sexual issues and obesity then their patients will find it easier to discuss their difficulties.

Effects of Belly Fat on Sexual Function

Some of the effects of obesity on sexual function are as follows:

1. Erectile Dysfunction

Did you know that obese men are far likelier to suffer from Erectile Dysfunction or impotency? Problems related to obesity like high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes prevent efficient blood flow to all parts of the body including penis, thus causing issues with erection. Studies have shown that losing weight can help in beating the condition.

2. Nerve damage

Sexual health depends in part on nerve function, which is also affected by obesity in certain aspects. The excess weight simply results in too much pressure on the nerve tissue, restricting its ability to transmit pleasurable sensations to the brain. Secondly, type 2 diabetes, a common obesity-related problem, is known to destroy nerve tissue; both of these issues can cause reduced penis sensitivity and impair the ability to enjoy sex.

3. Infertility

In men, obesity is directly related to infertility as it affects sperm. It has come to knowledge that men who consume a fatty diet have lower quality of sperm. Men who consume more saturated fats had lower total sperm count and lower sperm concentration than men who ate healthier.

4. Cardiovascular problems

One of the most dangerous aspects of obesity is its effect on heart health. According to some statistics, men who are obese have a 60% greater chance of suffering a fatal heart attack than men of normal body weight. Obesity-related circulatory problems are also a prominent factor in loss of penis function, which affects the ability of a man to achieve and maintain an erection.

5. Lack of Stamina

Obesity is often associated with laziness and an inactive lifestyle and this may often filter into their sex lives as well. In men, it will also decrease the time they can maintain an erection.

6. Buried Penis Syndrome

Folds of abdominal fat and skin in obese men make the penis look very small or even buried at many times. Buried penis syndrome can seriously hamper sex lives. This is mostly a congenital disorder in children and can affect around 0.6% of the male population.

7. Low Libido

Obesity is directly related to hormonal imbalance and lower testosterone levels, which in turn can inhibit sexual desires in both men and women. Increased body fat leads to more sex hormone binding globulins (SHBG) in the system. SHBG is a natural chemical that binds to testosterone, which means that there is less amount of sex hormone left to handle the demands of a normal sex life.

Cervical health Facts

January is the month which is known for cervical health awareness month. As women, it is very important to recognize different cervical related health issues that may come up.

A lot of women don’t even know about her Cervix. They don’t know about their Cervix as they are unable to see it. Cervix is located between the Uterus and Vagina. Cervix is about 2 inches long and sits at the bottom of your Uterus and at the top of the Vagina. Cervix is remarkably resilient. Cervix is an essential body part in the female reproductive system.

Cervix has glands which secretes mucus – used for self-cleansing of the vulva. Cervix can be affected by bacteria and viruses. Preventive measures, like avoiding direct contact with infected people and also enhancing hygiene, are highly recommended to enhance the health of the cervix.

Some of the facts of Cervix are as follows:-

1.     It plays a big role in Reproduction

The Cervix carries sperm into uterus. Baby can pass through the Vagina when the Cervix holds the fetus in the uterus until it’s time to give birth and the urinal contractions cause it to widen to about 10 centimeters.

2.     It tries to protect your fertility

Your cervix is known to be your first wall of defense against Sexually Transmitted Diseases that could result in infertility. You cannot get to the uterus without going through the Cervix.

3.     Trichimonas

Trichimonas is a parasite mostly found in pubic hair. This Trichimonas is easily transmitted from one person to another during sex. During this, the Cervix becomes very red and can be noticed during smear test.

4.     Most Cervical Cancers are caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)

The most common Sexually Transmitted Infection is Human Papilloma Virus. More than 80% of the women will be infected from this HPV before they are 50 as per some statistics. The virus can alter the cells of the cervix and these changes can lead to cervical cancer if not detected and treated.

5.     How Cervical Cancer can be Prevented

Cervical Cancer which is caused in cervix can be prevented through regular screening and early treatment. It is the most treatable female cancer. Women at the age of 21 and more can be tested for this cervical cancer. The test is done through smear test or swab test.

6.     Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccine

The Human Papilloma Virus vaccine doesn’t treat existing disease, but it can protect against the types of Human Papilloma Virus that cause cervical cancer. It’s recommended for ages 9 to 26. The vaccine works best in the body when it’s given in youth.

There is new HPV vaccine discovered approved by FDA, previous vaccine covered 4 strains of the virus while the new one covers 9 whole strains making it that much more effective. Vaccine is recommended for girls and women ages 11 to 26.

7.     A big NO to Cigarettes

Smoking increases the chances of having cervical cancer. With smoking, the immunity of women gets decreased and system becomes less effective in fighting against HPV infections.

Scrubbing, douching, sprays, use of perfumes, and other products used for cleansing inside the vulva, are not recommendable since vulva has mucus for self cleansing.

Smoker's cough: Symptoms, Causes, and Home Remedies

A smoker’s cough occurs in long-term smokers. Smoker’s cough is an obstinate cough which is present for more than 3 weeks. At the start, the cough may be dry, however, over time smoker’s cough may produce phlegm. The phlegm may be clear, white, yellow, or green. The cough is worst on waking, and improves gradually.

The air passages are lined with cilia which capture inhaled toxins and move them towards the mouth. Smoking paralyzes cilia; hence they fail to do their job optimally. Instead of being caught, the toxins enter the lungs, where they settle and give rise to inflammation.

This inflammation results in coughing as the body tries to get rid of the toxins from the lungs. During the night, cilia start repairing themselves as they are no longer exposed to smoke. As the cilia get rid of the collected toxins, there is increased coughing in the morning.

Symptoms of Smoker’s Cough

Chronic persistent cough, worse every morning on rising
The cough may be dry or productive
Occasionally, the person may cough up blood
There will be associated breathlessness
Some smokers suffer from wheezing
Unexplained weight loss is another accompanying feature

Causes of Smoker’s cough

Cilia are the tiny hair-like structures along your airways. When smoker’s smoke, the cilia lose some of their ability to push chemicals and other foreign materials out of smoker’s lungs. Because of this, toxins remain in smoker’s lungs for much longer than they normally would. In response, smoker’s body has to cough more to remove the chemicals from smoker’s lungs.

Smoker’s cough can be especially irritating in the morning because cilia regain their ability to remove the chemicals from lungs when smoker has not smoked for a few hours. This can make the cough much more unpleasant when smoker wake up.

A smoker’s cough can also involve postnasal drip. This is when mucus leaks into smoker’s throat. It causes you to cough or clear your throat frequently, and it can make your cough worse.

Home Remedies to get rid of Smoker’s Cough

  • Make sure you are well hydrated; drink 3 liters of water daily.
  • Water lubricates the throat so that the bruising caused from constantly and persistently coughing will be less painful. Water also keeps the body hydrated, while cigarette smoke dries it out.
  • Boost your intake of vitamin C. Step up your consumption of limes, lemons, oranges, guavas, mangoes and bell peppers. Smoking gets rid of vitamin C and calcium in the body. Consume loads of vitamin C rich foods every day to reinstate the lost vitamin C. Smoker’s can also confer with their health care provider and start a vitamin C supplement on a daily basis.
  • Honey is an excellent remedy for smokers cough. Have 3 to 5 spoons of honey every day. Smoker could also add generous amounts of honey to their tea. Honey is a lubricant and will cool an inflamed and irritated throat.
  • Rinse the mouth with hot saline water several times in a day to clear the phlegm in throat. Smoker could also add a spoon of turmeric to the hot water.
  • Fill a pan with water and boil the water. Add a few drops of tea tree essential oil to it. Inhale the vapors, taking deep breaths, whilst you cover your head. This calms cough and releases phlegm. Instead of tea tree oil, smoker can also use caraway seeds. These caraway seeds are very effective too. Make sure smoker follow this ritual every night before he goes to bed.
  • Boil mint leaves and ginger in water. Inhale the vapors as well as drink up the mixture, 3 to 4 times daily. It will yield quick and wonderful results.
  • Garlic is an excellent home treatment for smoker’s cough. Cut 2 flakes of garlic and add it to some milk. Boil the mixture for about 15 minutes. Strain and drink this blend at least 5 times every day.

These natural remedies are beneficial and will help in easing smoker’s cough; nonetheless, for complete and permanent cure, smoker needs to quit smoking. Try these remedies for about a fortnight and if there’s no betterment, go for doctor’s opinion.

Foolish Health Rumors Everyone Should Ignore

Urban legends and health myths are certainly nothing new — we are pretty sure that the ancestors would have passed some information to the next generation.

But the Internet has certainly helped outdated advice die hard, so it’s no wonder these fake facts keep popping up in everybody’s inbox. Myths, Half-Truths, Outright all Lies about human Body, Health and more.

Here’s why everyone should stop falling for these rumors, once and for all:

Chewing gum takes seven years to pass through your digestive tract

Gum addicts can relax. Although their body can’t digest chewing gum, it doesn’t just sit in your stomach. Everybody eliminates it when they go to the bathroom just like other food they haven’t digested.

Plucking gray hair causes two to grow back

It’s fine to tweeze that errant hair. Genetics plays a key role in when anyone go gray, regardless of how often he pluck.
It can take six months from the time a hair falls out until it grows back long enough for anyone to notice it; during that time, everyone will automatically see more gray hair as part of the aging process.

Antiperspirant deodorants cause breast cancer

Going without clothes won’t protect anyone’s breasts from cancer. This myth probably came about because some antiperspirants contain aluminum, which can show up as a false-positive finding on a mammogram. This entire means is you should skip the white stuff before a breast cancer screening. Though concerns have been raised about parabens (widely used preservatives in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products) in deodorant raising estrogen levels and thus possibly increasing cancer risk — there’s never been any conclusive evidence to prove a link.

Cats can steal the air from a baby’s mouth

There’s no need to send Fluffy away when baby moves in. This myth dates back hundreds of years to an era when cats were associated with evil spirits and witchcraft but it’s anatomically impossible for a cat or other animal to suffocate a baby by sealing the infant’s mouth with its own. Still, it’s a good idea to supervise pets around babies and small children — for the kitty’s safety just as much as the child’s.

Mountain Dew can shrink a man’s testicles

Mountain Dew-drinking guys everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief. The summary of this ridiculous rumor is that drinking Mountain Dew can lower a man’s sperm count or cause his penis to shrink. The alleged culprit is food coloring Yellow No. 5, and the myth that it has a harmful effect on the male reproductive system is still unfounded.

You can catch a cold from being outside too long

It’s actually a good idea to let kids spend plenty of time outdoors. “Going outside with or without a wet head is one of the best things anyone can do to prevent catching a cold,” “Colds are caused by viruses or bacteria, which are more often spread in the winter because of close contact from everyone being indoors.” So spending time in the open air can actually make anyone less likely to catch a cold.

Cracking your knuckles causes arthritis

The sound can be extremely annoying, but this awkward habit won’t harm anybody’s joints. Researchers found no difference in instances of arthritis when they compared a group of longtime knuckle crackers with those who left their hands alone. However, the study did find that people who cracked their knuckles had weaker grips and more hand swelling which is a good reason to kick the habit.

Drinking cold water after meals can lead to cancer

Water is one of the healthiest things anyone can drink with any meal whether it is hot, cold, or tepid. This rumor first surfaced in early 2006 and still makes its way into various email chains. It posits that cold water helps solidify oily fats from anybody’s meal into a “sludge” that lines the intestines and can lead to cancer. But there’s zero evidence from medical literature to support this theory.

It's okay to follow the five-second rule for dropped food

The five – second rule should actually be the “zero-second rule,” “Eating dropped food poses a risk for ingestion of bacteria and subsequent gastrointestinal disease, and the time the food sits on the floor does not change the risk.” If bacteria are present, they will cling to the food immediately on contact. So while it may be tempting to dust off food anybody has dropped, it’s safer to just toss it in the trash.

You only use 10 percent of your brain.

Motivational speakers may love this idea, but the evidence against it is just common sense. “Studies of patients with brain damage suggest that harm to almost any area of the brain has specific and lasting effects on a human being’s capabilities,” “If this myth was true, it would not be a big deal to hurt various parts of anyone’s brain.” Everybody is using 100 percent of his brain — or at least everybody hope so.

Merits and Demerits of Facebook on Kids

advantages and disadvantages of social networking sites, negative effects of cellphone, how to stop using cellphone, phone addiction, 25 advantages of social media that are good to keep in mind, advantages of facebook for business, facebook marketing, facebook marketing strategy, internet addiction, whatsapp (software), text messaging, facebook (website),

Facebook is the world’s most popular social network. Everything in the world has a positive and a negative side, and that can definitely be said as true for the phenomenon that is Facebook.

Honestly, people of all ages can chat with their friends and family from all around the world with the use of Facebook. Adults use Facebook to connect with high school friends, co-workers, and other people in their network. Teens use Facebook to keep in touch with their friends and post important documentation of their life via pictures and statuses.

Kids generally believe that Facebook is a protected environment, where almost all potential advantages of the Internet exist. On facebook, kids enjoy their own private territory, over which they have total control, without interference from adults, particularly their parents. Moreover, kids feel that they can control exactly how and what the world learns about kids.

If you are a parent in today’s world, then you face enormous difficulties in determining what role technology should play in your children’s lives.

Facebook was launched in 2004 and facebook has recently announced that it has 1 billion active users worldwide. However facebook was unpopular in the starting days but in recent time facebook’s popularity is still very much on the rise. Love it, hate it, there is absolutely no getting away from it.
If you are trying to make a decision on what’s right for your child, here’s a reminder of some of the merits and demerits of an early Facebook account:

Merits

1. Enhances social skills

Facebook allows kids to have a contact with current friends and provide the liberty of making new friends. When used in the right way, social media can increase a child’s self-esteem and help them feel less isolated. Facebook also allows those who are shy to socialize more easily.

2. It’s educational

A majority of teens use social networking to discuss school work and share discussions about school assignments. Shared discussions about school assignments are one of the best reasons to allow access to social networks.

3. A place to share thoughts

A Facebook page gives a child their own “home page” on the web, where they can express themselves and talk about their interests. They can join groups and support fan page, and find out what other people are interested in.

4. Decision is in kid’s hand

Your kid can choose who they would like to share their status updates, photos or check-ins with.

5. Digital competence

Managing a Facebook page teaches a child how to post comments and photos, and how to navigate the web. Having good online social media skills will be increasingly important as they grow older with time.

Demerits

1. Privacy

Privacy is a major concern for most Facebook users, and it’s really important to understand the site’s privacy settings and set them accordingly. And even though a lot has been done to improve the site's security, it can still be confusing.

2. Kids can be mean

However much you school your child on the right way to behave online, you cannot stop other children from posting mean comments. Cyber bullying can be a real problem. There are even some cases of kids who committed suicide after being bullied on social networks.

3. Things aren't always what they seem

There are many fake Facebook accounts, information that is misrepresented and your child could be exposed to these.

4. It can hurt kid’s future

Kids can post vulgar information or photos that will be discovered by college admissions or potential employers in the future. Once information goes online, it never goes away.

So does the good outweigh the bad? It’s hard to tell. Either way you probably won’t be able to completely block your kids from using it. So it is important to remember that if your kids are on Facebook, they should be aware of the dangers, and they should ensure some steps to protect themselves, such as adjusting the privacy settings.

Facebook is a place where you can broaden your horizons and learn different things. However facebook can also be a place where all sorts of bullying and vapid self-image obsessions take place. When you become a Facebook user, you have control over your facebook account. Only add the people you wish to be friends with and take care with your privacy settings.

Kidney Stone Home Remedies and Natural Treatment

Our kidneys are bean shaped situated on the loins below the liver on the right side and below the spleen on left side. They are on either side of the backside of abdomen. They are about 2.6 cm in the center, 10 cm in length and 6 cm in width. They act as a filter device in our body and excrete salt and water into the urinary bladder and passed out through urethra.

The major symptoms of kidney stones are pain in the abdomen, ureter, bladder and urethra. Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, sweating and chills but sometimes they may be formed in kidney or bladder without any symptoms. In this article, you will find some simple dietary guidelines and home remedies that will help in the treatment of kidney stones.

Avoid asparagus, beans, cabbage, cauliflower, meat and onions. The patient should take low calcium and phosphor diet. When stones are with calcium and magnesium, the patient is advised to take tomatoes, turnips, pumpkins, fresh green peas, grapes, papaya and pineapple. Foods to avoid in calcium oxalate stones are almonds beetroots, cabbage, beans, potatoes, soybeans, spinach and radish. Kidney beans are good natural remedy for stones. Low protein diet with plenty of fluid with more than 3-4 liters is useful in treating this condition. Holy basil juice and honey are beneficial in this condition.

Soak 250 grams of horse gram (kulthi) in three liters of water at night. Heat it slowly in the next morning for at least 2-3 hours and when one liter is left, remove from the flame. Now warm 30-50 grams of clarified butter (ghee) and add to it. Also add some black pepper (kaali mirch), black salt, cumin seeds (jeera) and turmeric (haldi) in the ghee. Drink this soup once in the afternoon instead of lunch. At least drink 250 grams. The stone will come out by itself in one or two weeks after being broken into pieces. Drink this soup daily. It has no side effects. If after drinking this soup, you are not able to control your hunger then you can take one wheat bread (chapati).

In a glass vessel, soak 20 grams of horse gram (kulthi) in 250 grams of water at night. In the morning mix it with a plastic spoon, and drink on an empty stomach. Now add the same amount of water in the glass containing horse gram and drink in the afternoon. Then add the same amount of water in that and drink in the evening. After drinking water thrice dipped in the same horse gram, add 20 grams of horse gram seeds for the next day. Drinking this water for two to three months and your kidney stone will dissolve and come out. Ayurveda advocates coffee prepared with five grams of tribulus terrestris (gokshura) with one liter of water boiled to one-fourth liter and given twice a day is good for kidneys.

Some yogasanas are beneficial in stones for relief such as uttanapadasana, pavanamuktasana, bhujangasana, danurasana as they stimulate the kidney. Hot water enema with hot bath at 100 degree F to 110 degree F is also advised. The head must be cooled with the paste made of Indian gooseberry. Hot fomentation is done on the kidney to relieve pain and agony. Regular exercise and plenty of water intakes are helpful in reducing the chances of stone formation.

Natural Remedies of Arthritis

Arthritis is a chronic disease that affects joints and muscles. Patients with arthritis suffer from joint pains, inflammation and limited joint movement. There is no known cure for arthritis. Treatment for arthritis, therefore, only addresses the joints' pain temporally. Unfortunately, the conventional pain relievers that arthritis patients rely on have myriad side effects. Luckily, there are natural remedies that can help arthritis patients in managing their condition without the fear of side effects. Below is a rundown of some natural remedies for arthritis.

1. Diet

It is imperative for an arthritis patient to eat a well-balanced diet. Eating more vegetable and fruits as well as reducing the amount of processed food in the diet is important since it helps in detoxifying the body ensuring that it keeps running smoothly. Eliminating sugar, wheat and dairy is also essential in managing arthritis pain. Patients are, instead, advised to eat whole grain and drink almond milk or rice milk.
